Quick Facts Wood, even after complete processing, continues to be a dynamic natural material with inherent variations. Because of the cellular structure of wood, there can be movement within parts or between adjacent parts as they adjust to changes in moisture and temperature in the environment, even in controlled installation conditions. Part of the beauty and warmth of wood revolves around the graining and subtle color variations between each piece of solid lumber or flitch of veneer. Therefore completed assemblies are not perfectly uniform in either grain characteristics or color as you might find in some synthetic products.
