Quick Facts

  • Custom-sized panels can be specified to fit unusual openings and areas with minimum waste.
  • Bracing requirements are largely eliminated.  Curvalon is designed to be self-supporting when installed. Bending can be performed in our factory or done on the job site. Field bending can eliminate waiting time when final opening sizes have not yet been established.

Design Ideas

  • Permits the use of many wood veneers, bright metallics, decorative laminates in curves not previously possible with other methods of construction.  Curvalon permits the use of a great variety of substrates. This will yield tailor-made characteristics in the finished product. Weight, stiffness and overall appearance can be varied by judicious choices of materials.

Have you ever wanted to add a curved ceiling to your design? Curvalon is the answer to your curved wall and ceiling requirements in a new and exciting way.

Rulon's Curvalon product line offers designers the opportunity to incorporate beautiful curved wood surfaces into their designs.  Rulon has opened a new chapter in wall and ceiling design by providing our customers an alternative to flat ceilings and walls.  Free your imagination and incorporate custom Curvalon Panels on your next job, because while styles come and go, sexy curves will always be appreciated.

Wood Styles and Selections

Curvalon Panels can be used for both wall and ceiling applications.  The radius of curvature, size, and depth of the Curvalon Panels vary.  The panels are designed specifically to meet the requirements of individual jobs in custom sizes up to 4" x 10". Curvalon Panels consist of a flexible veneered core board formed to integrated shaping ribs.  The outer ribs of the Curvalon Panels are typically edge banded with matching veneer to create a beautiful return edge around the perimeter of the panel.  Curvalon Panels are completely factory assembled and arrive to the site ready to install.

Rulon offers a wide variety of domestic and imported veneer.  Curvalon Panels can be finished with a clear coat or custom stained.  Our state-of-art finishing technique provides a beautiful and durable finish.  Rulon also offers high pressure laminates and thin metal veneers as specified by the designer.  Please see our veneers page for information on the many species of veneers offered for Curvalon Panels.

Rulon's regional sales managers and experienced engineering team are available to answer any question and help you specify Rulon Curvalon Panels in your next project.

Special Considerations

Acoustical Properties: Curvalon and Aluratone panels can be integrated to provide acoustical performance when needed.

Above Ceiling Access: Access above Curvalon ceilings is easily achieved with a variety of installation techniques.  C-Hangers and Torsion Springs are the two most common installation methods for individual panel accessibility.

Lighting Fixtures: Penetrations are typically field cut by the contractor during installation.

Installation: Installation of Rulon Curvalon Panels varies depending on project requirements.  Panels in areas where accessibility is not required can be suspended directly from the ceiling deck by the interior shaping ribs with standard 12 gauge wire.  Accessible ceiling panels are most commonly installed with C-hangers.  C-hangers simply screw to the backs of the panels and suspend the panels from standard 1/2" wide C-channel.  For wall applications, Z-clips provide a secure attachment to furring or a ply board wall.
