Newseum Grand Opening
Washington, DC's newest museum opened on April 11th, 2008, on Pennsylvania Ave. Dedicated to all forms of news media, this $450 million, 643,000-square-foot showcase was four years in the making.
Exhibit designer Ralph Appelbaum, and architect James Stewart Polshek, of Polshek Partnership architects, turned to Rulon to provide the curved wood, acoustical panels that wrap the many levels of radiused walls and theaters in the facility.
The challenges of this project included not only complex and variable radiuses,
but also high levels of sound absorption to quiet the large, open spaces.
Rulon's in house architects and engineers worked closely with designers and
contractors to model and build
curved Aluratone
panels that fit and functioned perfectly during the field installation.
