Rulon's cutting edge finishing techniques provide customers with a long-lasting durable finish without the use of urea or formaldehyde. The finishing process is entirely water-based and does not release any Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) into the environment. The water-based finishes give customers an opportunity to obtain two (2) Green Build LEED credits (Credits 4.1 and 4.2) by simply using Rulon wood.

Rulon Company has taken steps to reduce landfill waste. Rulon has partnered with a local company that uses wood waste in their manufacturing processes. The partnership has reduced Rulon's landfill waste by 45%. Rulon also recycles paper, cardboard, printer cartridges, and soda cans.

In February of 2006, Rulon Company moved manufacturing and corporate offices to a new state-of-the-art facility in St. Augustine, FL. The move from Georgia to the new facility offered Rulon a unique opportunity to retool for the future. Environmentally conscious manufacturing practices were designed and built from the ground up. Rulon now produces the same beautiful wood products using cleaner, more efficient production practices. The new processes reduce environmental impact, waste, and power consumption.

Many of Rulon's customers want to be assured the wood used in their project is harvested in socially and environmentally sustainable ways. Rulon Company is a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain-of-custody certificate holder. The high standards of the FSC chain-of-custody program allow Rulon to demonstrate the use of responsibly harvested lumber.
